105 Schools of Choice Program
Flint Community Schools is accepting enrollment applications for the 2013-2014 school year, as part of the district participation in the 105 State Schools of Choice program. Enrollment is open to all students who reside in Genesee County.
The open enrollment period began May 1, 2013.
Completed applications must be returned by September 6, 2013 at 5 p.m. to the district’s Office of Pupil Personnel Services, 923 E. Kearsley St. Flint, MI 48503.
Applications are being accepted for the following schools and grades:
Elementary (K-6)
Brownell-Holmes Freeman Carpenter Road Neithercut Cummings Pierce Doyle-Ryder Potter Durant-Tuuri-Mott Scott Eisenhower

Secondary (7-12)
Northwestern High School Southwestern Classical Academy 7th-9th Grade Academy Mott Adult High School

A parent/guardian must provide access to their child’s student records and transcripts, including behavior reports for the two previous years. Failure to do so will result in automatic denial of the application. If the number of applications exceeds the available slots, a random lottery will be used to determine selections.
Notice of acceptance will be provided as soon as possible, but no later than September 6, 2013. Parents/guardians must provide transportation to and from school for non-Flint resident students.

Blast Off to Kindergarten.....
On March 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., parents and guardians may register their children for kindergarten at any Flint elementary school.
Flint Community Schools offers full-day kindergarten with a focus on high academic standards and literacy. The district provides fun, nurturing environments and highly qualified, well-trained staff.
Bring your child’s birth certificate, current immunization records and proof of residency to enroll. A child must be 5-years-old by November 1, 2013 for enrollment.
Parents whose children who will turn 5-years-old between November 1 and December 1, 2013 must submit a waiver by June 1 for the child to enroll in kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year.

To enroll in Flint Community Schools, you will need the following documents:
- Parent identification
- Child's birth certificate
- Social Security Card
- Immunization records (must be current)
- Proof of residency (examples: utilities bill, water bill, telephone bill, car insurance, house or apartment lease)
In addition to the items listed above, students transferring from another district will also need the following documents:
- Transcripts of grades from former school with proof of current grade status
- A release/permit from previous school district

Code for Student Conduct
This handbook has been prepared as a service to students in kindergarten through the 12th grade, parents and faculty of the Flint Community Schools. The Flint Board of Education has authorized the policies and procedures to provide for the welfare of all students in the Flint Community Schools. All policies, regulations, definitions and procedures have been prepared to comply with the laws of the State of Michigan and of the United States. All parents, students, and faculty are expected to become familiar with the contents of this handbook.
