Our Goals

To prevent delinquency by providing assistance to youth and parents through direct counseling and/or referral to relevant services in the Flint Community.

To divert youth from the juvenile justice system when appropriate.

To aid in the development of community based youth programs.

To promote improved self-understanding and personal growth among area youth.
What is the Flint Area Youth Service Bureau?
It is an assistance center for young people with problems. The Flint Area Youth Service Bureau offers positive alternatives to Genesee County Family Court processing, including counseling services for youth and their parents, information and referral services.
Who does it serve?
Any 6 to 16 year old, living in the Flint Community School District, who may be experiencing difficulties at home, in school or in the community. Participation is voluntary.
What are its services?
Professional counselors seek the aid of parents and youth in identifying and resolving problem areas and often enlist the assistance of other community agencies, depending on the needs of the youth and his/her family.
How are services requested?
The Flint Area Youth Service Bureau accepts referrals from Genesee County Family Court, police or school officials. Young people or their parents may request bureau services. In any event, a prospective client should arrange for an appointment by telephoning 760-1190.
