As you are aware, during a routine inspection of Doyle-Ryder, our staff discovered mold in classrooms. We immediately prohibited scholars from entering their classrooms and canceled school for the week.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 1st, pre-kindergarten scholars will attend Holmes Elementary. Our scholars in kindergarten through sixth grade will report to Potter Elementary starting Monday, September 13th, while remediation and other improvements take place at Doyle-Ryder – including improvements to the school parking lot and roof. Potter Elementary was selected because the school has enough space to provide our Doyle-Ryder students with their own section.
Educational materials and packets for the next two weeks – as schools are closed next week for intersession – can be picked up at Doyle-Ryder this Thursday, September 2nd from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by appointment. Staff will be on-site in the school parking lot to hand out materials to families. We will provide an update as soon as possible regarding Doyle-Ryder’s reopening.
Please be assured that the district remains committed to the safety and well-being of our school community. We are developing a plan to address the missed school days this year, and we will share that information as soon as it is available.
We apologize to our Doyle-Ryder families for the inconvenience presented by this closure. We encourage any parent or guardian with questions or concerns to contact the district directly. We will continue to put our community first and provide an update as soon as possible. Thank you.
