Dear Families,

As we make our way through our second week of distance learning at Flint Community Schools, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued commitment to your scholar’s education during this time. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly been challenging, but it has shown us how resilient and focused our school community is in continuing to provide our scholars with a top-tier education.

As a reminder, distance learning will continue this week for Flint Community Schools. This means our district will be remote today through Thursday, January 13, with the expectation scholars will follow their regular school schedules. There will be no school on Friday, January 14, as it is records day across the district. Additionally, the FCS district will be closed on Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

This week, food distribution will be available at the locations listed below on Tuesday, January 11 and Thursday, January 13 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Durant-Tuuri-Mott
  • Eisenhower
  • Freeman
  • Holmes STEM
  • Neithercut
  • Northwestern
  • Pierce
  • Potter
  • Southwestern Academy

We want to thank all our scholars, teachers, staff, and families for understanding the importance of keeping our school community safe. The health and safety of our entire district remains our top priority. As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and work alongside our local health team, we will ensure we update our community with schedule changes that may impact learning.

As a reminder, please continue to charge your devices at home and visit our district’s website, FlintSchools.org, for regular updates and tips on distance learning. As always, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s principal with questions.

We appreciate your continued patience as we prioritize what is best for the health and safety of our school community and tremendously thank you for your patience.  We hope to return to in-person learning as soon as it is safe for all.

Thank you for serving as our partner in your scholar’s education.

Educationally Yours,

Kevelin Jones

Superintendent
