FCS Celebrates National Principals' Day & Teacher Appreciation Week

May 1, 2022

Dear Flint Families,

Each and every day, our school community celebrates its dedicated educators and instructional leaders, but this week is extra special.

Today is National Principals’ Day, celebrated every year to recognize the importance of principals, from elementary to high school. May 1 also marks the start of Teacher Appreciation Week, a week-long national holiday to share our appreciation for educators. Please join me in these celebrations by sharing your gratitude with our teachers, principals and staff.

In my eyes, everyone at Flint Community Schools is an educator – whether they are a teacher in the classroom, a staff member helping scholars in the halls, or a parent serving as a learning coach after school. All of these moments contribute to our scholars’ academic, social and emotional journeys. Our team plays an essential role in our school community’s success, and I want to recognize their ongoing dedication to our scholars.

Together, we have faced countless hurdles over the last two years, but our teachers and staff have demonstrated their ability to stay Flint-Focused. For that, I am grateful, and I know that this tenacity and determination has uplifted our community. Our dedicated team will continue to navigate anything that comes our way, while maintaining a focus on those we are privileged to serve.

Please feel encouraged to reach out to your scholar’s favorite teacher or staff member to share your family’s appreciation. We will continue to celebrate our teachers and staff year-round, and we hope that you do the same. This week, and every week, let us continue to champion and celebrate our devoted educators as they help create a safe space for scholars to learn, grow and play.

Thank you, teachers!

Educationally Yours,

Kevelin Jones, Superintendent
