Dear Flint Families,
We hope that your summer break has been safe, relaxing and filled with new memories for your family. As we near the beginning of the 2022-23 school year, we want to remind you that the first day of school is in less than two weeks, on Wednesday, August 3. This is a half day for all scholars. To make sure our students start off on the right track, it is critical that they attend school all day, every day – especially the first day of the school year.
As always, the safety and well-being of our scholars, families, teachers and staff remains our highest priority. After meeting with our medical team, we have decided that masks will not be required in our buildings, but they will be recommended. We will still implement measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including hand sanitizer stations and thorough surface cleanings. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 case rate in the community to determine our safety protocols, and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
As I reflect on this summer, we have much to celebrate. I want to recognize all of our scholars who stayed engaged with learning over the summer months, whether through our Summer Learning Experience program or by following a reading schedule at home. This dedication to learning will benefit scholars as we kick off the new school year.
Please note, Flint Community Schools is open for enrollment, and we encourage parents and guardians to enroll their scholars today. Visit FlintSchools.org and click on “Centralized Enrollment” to begin the enrollment process, and please call 810-767-6158 if you have questions.
Finally, we encourage families to download or print the 2022-23 school year calendar to keep track of important dates, including intersessions, half days and breaks. The calendar can be found on our website at FlintSchools.org.
We look forward to seeing our scholars, families, teachers and staff on Wednesday, August 3 for the first day of school. Until then, please enjoy the rest of your summer break. Thank you for your continued commitment to your child’s academic, social and emotional journey.
Educationally Yours,
Kevelin Jones
