"Have a good day." "You are loved." "You can achieve it." "You have what it takes." -- These are some of the greetings adults gathered outside of Flint Northwestern High School will be saying to students as they begin their school day on the first Monday morning of each month.
It's part of the 'Value Our Children' project. Hubert Roberts, with the mentoring group, Involved Dads is asking the community to once again join him and others and lovingly greet students as they start school.
In a Facebook post, Roberts wrote, "We would like to have at least 200 adults greeting our students this year. The most we had last year was 49 men...will we step up and truly value our children, they are a reflection of us, they can't be what they don't see."
Community leaders, parents, business owners, and anyone else interested in greeting students is invited to come out on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 6:45 am outside of Flint Northwestern High School.
NBC 25's Ilse Lujan-Hayes will Roberts LIVE during the morning show and FOX66 Morning on Monday, October 3, 2016. The segments wills serve to remind viewers they too are invited to participate in the greeting beginning at 6:45 am.
