Mission Statement
The Department of Finance’s mission is to accurately report the financial position of Flint Community Schools, its departments, and its business activities to stakeholders. These include the Board of Education, government agencies, auditors, grantors, donors, and others who may have a vested interest in the financial activity and health of the district. Within the scope of this mission is the responsibility to coordinate and direct all financial transactions recorded in the accounting system of the district. The Department of Finance is dedicated to providing superior customer service to students, staff, faculty, departments, and outside constituents with a focus on accuracy, accountability, availability, efficiency, professionalism and integrity, while assuring that all transactions adhere to district policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and rules established by the authoritative governing bodies.
