Flint Community Schools recently welcomed families, scholars, and community partners to the annual A Taste of Literacy: The Magic of Literacy event at the Flint Farmers’ Market. The event served as a festive kickoff to March is Reading Month and celebrated the power of reading through engaging, hands-on experiences for families. The evening created a lively and welcoming environment where families could celebrate reading while discovering new ways to support literacy at home.
More than 300 participants attended this year’s event, enjoying an evening filled with literacy activities, storytelling, games, and opportunities to connect with educators and community organizations that support student learning. Families explored interactive literacy stations, received free books, and had the chance to win prizes and raffles throughout the evening.
Flint Community Schools extends its sincere thanks to the families, staff, volunteers, and partners who helped make this year’s event such a success. Their continued support helps foster a strong culture of literacy and encourages scholars to develop a lifelong love of reading.
