We are excited to share information regarding the Flint Community Schools Spelling Bee Competition! This event is an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their spelling abilities, enhance their vocabulary, and foster a spirit of friendly competition within our school community.
Spelling Bee Competitions are held at each school and we encourage all scholars who have a knack for spelling to participate. Whether your child is a seasoned speller or looking to try their hand at competitive spelling for the first time, this event promises to be an enriching and rewarding experience. We believe that participation in events like the Spelling Bee Competition not only enhances academic skills but also instills confidence and fosters a love for learning in our scholars. 2024 Spelling Bee Competition Timeline
Monday, January 9, 2024 - Friday, February 9, 2024:
Classroom/Building Spelling Bees.
Wednesday, February 14, 2024:
Winners from Classroom/Building Spelling Bees.
Monday, February 26, 2024:
Pass out Spelling Bee permission slips at school buildings.
Tuesday, March 12, 2024:
Spelling Bee permission slips are due.
Tuesday, March 19, 2024 - Thursday, March 21, 2024
Building Spelling Bee champions crowned! District grade-level contests are set for March 19-21, 2024. Join us at Freeman Elementary starting at 11:00 AM. Winners move up to Genesee Intermediate School District for county-level showdowns in April! Let the spelling battles begin!
Building Spelling Bee winners have been declared! District grade-level competitions will take place:
Tuesday, March 19, 2024: 4th Grade
Wednesday, March 20, 2024: 5th Grade
Thursday, March 21, 2024: 6th Grade
All grade-level competitions will be held at Freeman Elementary beginning at 11:00 AM. Winners from each grade will compete at the Genesee Intermediate School District county-level competitions in April.
GISD Regional Spelling Bee Competition
Monday April 15, 2024 - Thursday, April 18, 2024
Grade level county-wide Spelling Bee competitions will take place during this week.
County-wide competition spelling bees will be conducted orally and in-person at the GISD Legacy Auditorium. A Zoom link will be provided for families who would like to attend the competition virtually.
