Our Flint Jaguars Football Team received an incredible surprise this morning as the Detroit Lions Foundation stopped by with brand-new football equipment through its Touchdown in Your Town grant program!
This generous donation helps remove financial barriers and ensures our student-athletes have the equipment they need to compete, grow, and succeed throughout the season.
The excitement didn't stop there—former Detroit Lions quarterback Eric Hipple joined the celebration, and Rory the Lion had everyone smiling as he jumped into the weight room to lift alongside our Jaguars! 💪🦁
A huge thank you to the Detroit Lions Foundation for investing in our scholars, supporting youth athletics, and making a lasting impact in our community. We can't wait to see our Jaguars put this new gear to great use this season!

Due to the statewide Air Quality Alert, we are making two important changes to our schedule for tomorrow, Thursday, July 16, to keep everyone safe:
• Summer Experience is canceled.
• The Potter Elementary Playground Ribbon Cutting is postponed. We are working on rescheduling this event and will share the new date with you as soon as it is confirmed.
The safety of our scholars and families is always our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Please stay safe.

These new playgrounds are part of a more than $7 million grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. To bring them to life, we partnered with the Flint Center for Educational Excellence to gather feedback from our students, families, and neighbors. Partnerships like these are crucial in creating safe and engaging spaces for Flint kids to play, grow, and explore. Thank you to the Mott Foundation, the Flint Center, and everyone who shared their voice to help design this incredible community asset!
Next up: Join us tomorrow, Thursday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. as we cut the ribbon at Potter Elementary School (2500 N. Averill Ave.)!

Yesterday marked a major milestone for the future of our scholars!
Crews officially began demolition on the Napoleon J. LaVoie Field House, taking the first tactical step to clear the way for our brand-new, state-of-the-art high school campus. Members of Napoleon J. LaVoie's family were present to witness this bittersweet milestone, honoring his incredible legacy as we transition the site.
Over the next several months, crews will continue working sequentially to safely remove the remaining vacant buildings on site. We are so proud to take these historic steps forward for our scholars, families, and the entire Flint community as we build toward our opening for the 2028-29 school year.
