From encouraging academic success to volunteering their time, supporting school events, and partnering with our staff, our parents play a vital role in helping our scholars thrive. We are grateful for the commitment, teamwork, and positive impact they make throughout the year.

Flint Community Schools extends a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and guardians who joined us last night for our Special Education Parent Listening Session.
Your time, honesty, and engagement help us better understand how we can continue strengthening supports and services for our scholars receiving special education services. The conversations shared were meaningful, thoughtful, and centered on what matters most — student success.
We truly value your voice and partnership as we work together to improve programming, expand opportunities, and ensure every scholar has what they need to thrive.
We appreciate you being part of this important work and look forward to continuing the conversation.

A special shoutout to freshman Mariam Bilal, who continues to impress—placing in the 100 meters and proudly showing off the shirt she earned for her accomplishment.
What a fantastic showing and an exciting season for our Lady Jaguars!

As they prepare for summer break and increased independence, the interactive driving simulator gave them a powerful, real-world look at the dangers of impaired driving. The experience demonstrated how quickly judgment, reaction time, and decision-making can be impacted by distracted, drugged, or drunk driving — and reinforced the importance of making safe choices every time they get behind the wheel or ride with others.
While the end of the school year is often full of excitement and celebration, this event served as a serious and timely reminder that those moments of fun should always be matched with responsible decisions that keep students and the community safe.

Parents and Guardians:
If your student will be attending the field trip on May 20th to watch the Flint City Bucks soccer game please consider the following:
The stadium has few options for shade. Your child will be in the sun during peak UV hours, greatly increasing their likelihood of getting sunburn or overheating.
Please apply sunscreen on your child before they leave for school.
DO NOT send sunblock to school with your child. It is considered a topical medication and will be confiscated. Staff can not apply sunscreen to a child without specific written consent.
Commonly missed sunscreen areas include:
◦ the ears ◦lips ◦hands ◦scalp/hairline ◦tops of feet ◦ behind the knees ◦ back of neck ◦along the edges of clothing/straps
A better option would be for your student to dress in clothing that are light in color, lightweight, breathable, and completely cover their arms and legs. This can help shield their skin from the sun while still allowing them to remain cool. They can also wear a hat with a brim to provide protection for their face and eyes.
Stay safe, have fun, enjoy the game!

From supporting language development to helping scholars succeed in and out of the classroom, your dedication makes a lasting impact on the lives of our scholars and families.
Thank you for your patience, compassion, and commitment to helping every scholar grow and thrive. Happy National Speech Pathologist Day! #FlintCommunitySchools #NationalSpeechPathologistDay
